Think sports stars in America get a pass? Even if they repeatedly break the law? There’s an argument that everything someone like Lawrence Taylor does is under extra scrutiny — he’s an NFL Hall of Famer, after all, and one of the most famous, ferocious players in history. But it’s not hard to believe that someone less accomplished in football with an arrest record like Taylor’s probably wouldn’t be free to drive around.
When Taylor was pulled over for DUI this weekend in FL, it was yet another legal transgression in a life full of them. Perhaps the best athlete ever to play at the University of North Carolina (where Michael Jordan went), Taylor has been unable to find the relative tranquility that Jordan has. But from appearances, while his tribulations and multiple arrests may have cost him emotionally they haven’t wrecked his finances. Taylor may not be a billionaire like Jordan, but when he was pulled over the former linebacker was reportedly driving a Bentley. Starting price for a Bentley is more than $180,000.
