Hey, it took two games, but Team USA Basketball already beat the Chinese National Team by about 100. In back-to-back exhibitions in Los Angeles and Oakland before both teams departed for Brazil, Team USA blistered an overmatched China team 106-57 and then 107-57. And they were — literally — just warming up.
Team USA opens its bid for gold in Rio against the Chinese yet again on Saturday, August 6 at 6pm ET on NBC. It’s highly unlikely the Chinese were holding back a secret weapon they might unveil now that the Summer Games are really here. The question is whether China will be able to score 57 again — or whether the non-exhibition defense of Team USA will be less generous. DeAndre Jordan, full-time Clippers center and part-time Team USA rim protector is unlikely to let a single Chinese shot go unchallenged.
