Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn’t ready yet. He said on his Dirty Mo Radio podcast that his concussion is “scary for me because it’s different. I’ve never had issues with my balance and eye issues.” Obviously those are issues you can’t drive with. Dale Jr. couldn’t offer a clue about his potential return, calling the “length of recovery different for each [concussion].”
Excited to report I had a great trip to the doctor today for evaluation. Doctors and I both are feeling positive about the progress.

Hendrick Motorsports has some luxury options, though. It has been filling Dale Jr’s spot with the retired Jeff Gordon since the injury, putting Gordon behind the wheel of the No. 88. It’s a little like having to face Lou Gehrig right after you get Babe Ruth out. Murderer’s Row, they called it. Gordon has 4 wins at Watkins Glen lifetime, with nine Top 10 finishes. Three times he hasn’t finished. The Cheez-It 355 and the other sponsors would love to see Jeff Gordon going fast this weekend.
Update: No change lately. Symptoms have plateaued over the last week. Balance/Gaze Stabilization are only issues. Docs preaching patience.
