Jewelry designer Aldo Orta has developed a loyal clientele of celebrities over the years (Calvin Klein, David Geffin, Barry Diller, Elizabeth Taylor). When he got the idea to launch a line of affordable custom jewelry for the mass market, he pitched his business on Shark Tank in 2011. Barbara Corcoran and Kevin Harrington each invested $90k for 45 percent equity but after the show, Orta kept 100 percent. Six months later, Orta was hired by QVC as in-house jewelry designer.

Orta says: “Barbara [Corcoran] has been my muse for QVC for the jewelry collection. She wears my jewelry in the show. She has been a huge supporter, wearing my jewelry. After the original show, Barbara arranged to give me a [Shark Tank] update when I was filming and doing sales for QVC.”
