Actor Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings, Wilfred) is at San Diego Comic-Con promoting two projects. He’s starring in the BBC America TV series Dirk Gently and he’s producing the film The Greasy Strangler. FlicksNZ interviewed Wood by phone and challenged him to describe The Greasy Strangler to a stranger, over the phone. Wood was a good sport about it and gave it his all. He described as “a comedy about a father and a son who still live together despite being far too old to still live together. One of them, the father, is a man called The Greasy Strangler” who despite his son not knowing, “covers his naked body in grease, and kills people.”
The man on the phone says, “I’m not sure how large an audience you might have.” Wood admits “there’s a lot of gross out humor.” But Wood says the humor is done in “an early John Waters-esque kind of vibe.” The man admits that he probably wouldn’t go. He says he has three kids and is more interested in love stories and the Disney genre. The Greasy Strangler will be in theaters October 7.
