Dawoon, Arum, and Soo Kang are the three sisters behind the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel. Instead of swiping on Tinder, singles receive a handful of bagels (matches) every day at noon. They have seven days to respond, if they choose to, and set up a date. The Kang sisters pitched the app on Shark Tank in January 2015. On the show, when tech billionaire Mark Cuban asked if they would accept $30 million for the company, they said no.

They didn’t get a deal on Shark Tank but Coffee Meets Bagel did raise $7.8 million in series A funding afterwards. The company claims to be the only dating app with more women users than men (60:40). That data inspired the Kang sisters to develop a new app iteration called #LadiesChoice. Kang said she hopes that #LadiesChoice “will give women more confidence to reach out first since they already know that their matches like them.”
