Can Jeremy Lin double Nets wins? Before last year the Brooklyn Nets had gone to the playoffs four straight seasons. But last year the wheels came off in Brooklyn, and the Nets won just 21 games. Now with Jeremy Lin taking over the point guard position and Kenny Atkinson taking over as coach, winning seems set to return to Brooklyn. But how much?
Atkinson comes from a Hawks team that has been excellent recently. Lin also arrives fresh from a winning campaign with the Hornets (after a mostly disastrous turn with the Lakers). The two men reunite — with Atkinson having been an assistant coach for the Knicks during Linsanity. And importantly, they reunite in the Eastern Conference, where merely doubling last season’s win total will likely put them in the running for a playoff spot. Atkinson has tried to temper expectations publicly, but he’s expecting a lot of himself and Lin. 44 wins got the Pistons the last playoff spot in the East last year. So Atkinson and Lin will likely need to more than double the total to see postseason action.
