Actress Tori Spelling (90210) starred in the 1996 cult classic film Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? She played Laurel, a young woman who fell in love with a boy named Kevin (Ivan Sergei, NCIS: New Orleans) who turns out to be obsessive and violent. Twenty years later and Lifetime is making a remake with James Franco. Instead of the young girl Leah falling for a boy, she falls for a girl named Pearl (Emily Meade). Oh, and Pearl is a vampire. Leah’s mother (Spelling) does not approve — some things never change.
Leah is portrayed by Leila George — Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? is her acting debut. You can see her next in the 2017 film The Long Home starring (and directed by) James Franco. The story – about a young carpenter who’s hired by the man who killed his father – is based on the novel by William Gay. Robin Lord Taylor, Josh Hartnett, Ashton Kutcher and Courtney Love also star. Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, June 18 at 8pm.
