The protagonist of the new comedy/thriller series BrainDead is Laurel Healy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The young woman returns to Washington, D.C. to help her brother Senator Luke Healy as a staffer. But on her very first day on the Hill, she suspects something very strange is happening — or has happened — to the people she’s working with. Laurel is told repeatedly, even by her brother Luke, not to question “happy” people.
Luke Healy is portrayed by Danny Pino. He’s known for his roles on Scandal (Alex Vargas), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Nick Amaro), Cold Case (Scotty Valens), and The Shield (Armadillo Quintero). It’s nice to see Pino out of uniform and in a suit! Pino is also recognized for his role in the 2005 film The Lost City with Andy Garcia (who directed) and Bill Murray, set in Cuba. BrainDead premieres Monday, June 13 at 10pm on CBS.
