Venture capitalist Mary Meeker’s Internet trends report is among the most highly anticipated and respected reports in the industry. In a series of snapshots Meeker lays out the world as it looks online, saying startling things like that Facebook’s Internet advertising grew by 56% while Google’s rose just 18% and that Internet usage by country saw a switch of No. 2 and No. 3 and now goes like this:
- China
- India
- US
Since the idea of separation of online and brick and mortar is sometimes fuzzy, she also reveals a bit about retail as it exists in the world of square footage — and not just in the cloud. On the terra firma, Meeker reports, eyeglasses juggernaut Warby Parker made more money per square foot in its retail stores than Tiffany last year. Better than Michael Kors stores, too, she points out.
