Swimmer Sean Grieshop is one of the Olympic athletes featured on the Lifetime docu-series Gold Medal Families. The show doesn’t just highlight the achievements of the fierce young competitors but also reveals the sacrifices their families made in order for their children to pursue their Olympic dreams. Sean Grieshop’s parents are no exception. The 17-year-old promised his father that if he wins a Gold Medal at the Olympics, he’ll give his dad half.
There’s a good chance of Grieshop winning a Gold in the near future. This week, Sean set the 400 IM Junior World Record in trials prelims (4:14.00). He now ranks fourth in U.S. history in his 17-18 age group, behind only Michael Phelps, Tom Dolan, and Chase Kalisz. Note: This week Grieshop competed against 400 IM gold medalist Ryan Lochte who did not make the 2016 Olympics cut for the 400 IM. Due to a pulled groin muscle, he timed 4:12.021. Grieshop came in eighth at 4:15.67. Gold Medal Families airs Tuesdays at 9pm and 10pm on Lifetime.
