Facebook is making a small tweak backed up by big data. The change doesn’t actually occur on Facebook itself, just on sites outside of the Facebook realm. (Whether there is an Internet outside the Facebook realm is another story.)
From now on, when you see the familiar blue Facebook Like button on a site, instead of the blue “f” on a white background you’ll see a white hand with its thumb raised. Facebook is saying hey, hitch a ride with this story. The company reports that the new design created a 6% higher engagement rate. In other words, more people give it the thumbs up.
