The Battlefield 1 launch from EA is a big one. PC Gamer called its introductory trailer (below) “bombastic.” And the E3 livestream showed an hour of live Battlefield play, with some star-studded celebrity action. But that action was also reportedly a little smokey. Covering the event, Ben Kuchera at Polygon wrote: “I’m going to put this delicately: It seems as if Zac Efron and Jaime Foxx were very, very high.” Well what do you think?
Snoop Dogg, a blunt dangling, also appeared to be very focused on the game. Maybe everyone just seemed a little blunted because the energy was low at the E3 conference in general. “Wasn’t that the same E3 conference that EA had in 2014? It was all dev diaries and promises of future game because they basically had nothing. Or was that last year?” asked one commenter, who had a lot of company in the disappointment section. Same “lackluster feel” as last year, said another. OldManLight wrote: “Why don’t publishers realize that paying celebrities, who are actually pretty good actors, to show up at these events and can’t muster a sincere looking “yeah I’m excited” is the biggest fucking waste of time and money imaginable?”
