ABC gave a sneak peek at its Season 2 of BattleBots on May 10. More than 300 teams from 13 countries entered the field but only 44 robots made the cut. That left four slots open in the field of 48. To further winnow the field from the 12 remaining closely matched robots, BattleBots Rumbles decided which will fill those spots. In each of the four rounds, three bots entered the arena together and fought it out in 3-minute rounds without hazards. Below was the lineup (winners in bold):
- Son of Whyachi (S.O.W) vs. Creepy Crawlies vs. Ultraviolent
- Basilisk vs. Blacksmith vs. Gemini
- Invader vs. Mohawk vs. Lycan
- Bad Kitty vs. Skorpios vs. Black Ice
BattleBots promises that “robot shrapnel will fly” once again. BattleBots Season 2 will have a two-hour premiere on Thursday, June 23 at 8pm ET on ABC.
