Tomer Alpert of Telluride, Colorado is the entrepreneur behind Felt, an app that prints and mails handwritten cards. Alpert describes Felt as “snail mail, reimagined for the modern world.” Here’s how it works: You select a photo from your smartphone and then using your finger or stylus, you write a short note — and then send it seamlessly to Felt. They print it and send it to the addressee.
The app is free to download (it’s currently available only for iPhones). The first Felt card costs $3 to create and send to a recipient. But you can put 3 more Felt cards in the same envelope for just $6 total — or $1 for each extra card. Alpert developed the app in 2013 and will pitch Felt on Shark Tank (May 20), which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
