As the scheming Claire Underwood on House of Cards, Robin Wright has perfected the art of the cold, emotionless smile, which might come in handy for her new role in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. Wright is close to signing on to Denis Villeneuve‘s sequel to Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi classic, although it’s not clear if she will be portraying a human or a replicant.
According to Variety, the film’s producers have been keen on casting her for some time, but scheduling conflicts with House of Cards were a stumbling block. With those conflicts now out of the way, Wright will join Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling when production begins later this year. Wright is also entering the DC Universe, playing General Antiope in Wonder Woman. After battling droids and training Amazonian warriors, she will be more than capable of taking on Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) in the next season of House of Cards.
