When North Carolina passed its discriminatory anti-LGBT law, there were many negative repercussions. Lawsuits were immediately filed against the state and Gov. McCrory by the ACLU, Lambda Legal, and others alleging violation of the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Things are so bad that their own Attorney General refuses to defend the suits. Then PayPal canceled plans to open a 400-job operations center and Bruce Springsteen canceled his concert there, etc.
But now for the worst news: Some of those good ol’ boys will now have to find an alternate means of self-gratification when using the Internet. XHamster.com, a porn website said to be one of the top 100 most visited websites in the world, has announced that they will no longer “service” anyone in North Carolina, so that someone with a North Carolina IP address now will get only a black screen. Even if the lawmakers aren’t particularly devoted to this sort of adult entertainment, their constituents are bound to be angry. Of all 50 states, North Carolina ranked 7th in length of time spent per visit on the popular adult content site Pornhub in 2015.
