Amy Schumer wasn’t warned that Glamour magazine was going to namedrop her into a group of inspiring women. Usually not a problem, but the comedian was pissed because this time she was grouped with other “Plus Size” inspirations — or so it seemed. Schumer wants to make it clear: plus size she ain’t. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Schumer objected not so much due to vanity, but because by including her Glamour — while trying to celebrate larger women — may have instead contributed to the body issue problems of young women.
“I go between a size 6 and an 8.” wrote Schumer on Instagram. “@glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me. Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size?” Glamour‘s Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive replied that Glamour was trying to honor Schumer for her words in defense of all body types — that it had nothing to do with her dress size. Leive shared a series of Tweets trying to explain Glamour‘s grouping. Schumer’s post appears below, and then Leive’s multiple responses. Schumer’s post had nearly 7,000 comments in 18 hours.

To be clear, size 6-8 is not plus. (Even size 12—frequent size of “plus” models—is smaller than average American woman!)…

But women of all sizes can be inspired by one another’s words. So sorry if implication was otherwise, Amy.
