Claire Warren is the matriarch of the TV drama The Family. A wife and mother, Claire is the current Mayor of Red Pines, Maine who seeking to run for governor. She has the support of her adult child Willa (Alison Pill) but her husband John (Rupert Graves) isn’t as keen. When their son Adam (Liam James), who was presumed dead after disappearing ten years ago, reappears traumatized, John believes they should scrap Claire’s idea of running. She disagrees and goes for it.
Claire Warren is portrayed by three-time Oscar nominee Joan Allen. She is best known for her roles in Room (Nancy), the Bourne films (Pam Landy), The Contender (Senator Laine Hanson), The Notebook (Rachel McAdams’ mother Anne Hamilton), Pleasantville (Betty Parker), The Ice Storm (Elean Hood), The Crucible (Elizabeth Proctor), and Nixon (Pat Nixon), among others. Allen is also an accomplished stage actress: she won a Tony Award for her role opposite John Malkovich in Lanford Wilson’s Burn This in 1988. The Family airs Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
