Dancing With the Stars contestant and model Nyle DiMarco‘s Twitter feed says “Finally… DWTS!” Where some amateur dancers might be intimidated making their dancing debuts on such a big stage, Nyle is simply eager and ready. He’s been training. Seriously training. (A typical day for Nyle includes DWTS rehearsal, the gym, the pool, then a long evening hike.) But that’s the way Nyle has approached everything, that’s his style.
There are two hashtags the model/dancer is using that really clue you in to the worldview of Nyle DiMarco. First is #RedefiningDance, which lets us understand Nyle’s big ambition. the second goes hand-in-hand with the first: it’s #DeafTalent. Because Nyle DiMarco is deaf — a condition that might be considered particularly problematic in dancing, where the beat and rhythm are so critical. But that’s exactly why Nyle has the first hashtag. His success as a deaf dancer will not only help evangelize for the various talents of the deaf everywhere, it will also redefine, if he has his way, dance itself. It’s a tall order, but the handsome and supremely fit Nyle DiMarco has triumphed before: he won season 22 of America’s Next Top Model. And Nyle will have plenty of professional help to achieve his new goals: he’s teamed with Peta Murgatroyd.
