Uber launched a new look and feel for the company by revealing a new logo. Co-founder and CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick, described the change to getting a new hairdo. He wrote: “The first thing you’ll notice is that our logotype is at once more grounded and elevated. Some might say it’s less fussy (in part because we have cut the curls, our 1990s hairstyle). This will help you see Uber from afar, and when it’s in small places. It also reflects a more substantial look as we too have matured as a company.”
Some love the new hairdo logo, some don’t. But everyone in Silicon Valley agrees that the new logo reflects Kalanick who was hands-on in the makeover. Wired‘s Jesse Hempel wrote, “For Kalanick, who turns 40 this year and has picked up a few more shades of silver in his spiky, salt-and-pepper hair, this rebrand has been an act of self-exploration; it’s his attempt to define who he is, and to give himself the flexibility to evolve alongside the company he started.”
