Donald Trump will still tell it like it is, just without “foul language.” That’s the promise he made to a Louisiana crowd this week. Why dial back the profanity when it appeals to his base (pun intended)? And when it’s clearly working for him? Because “even if it’s not a bad word, if it’s a little bit off they kill me.” That “they” means the political correctness police. So Trump promised self-control. A lot of it. The candidate actually issued a lifetime ban on his own profanity.
Maybe with New Hampshire’s victory Trump is starting to feel he needs to act more presidential. Or some research data has told him he can even get away with bad ideas, if he doesn’t use bad language to express them. So expect a more PG-rated speaker on the Trump stump. Cursing? “I’ll never do it again, actually,” Trump promised.
