On Survivor: Kaôh Rong — Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty, the Brawn tribe faces an obstacle when one of them falls ill on the Cambodian island. What’s the problem? Construction worker Jennifer Lanzetti discovers a long insect has crawled into her ear. If that sentence makes you queasy, you’ll need to shield your eyes while watching the premiere episode “I’m a Mental Giant.” Yes, you see the bug up close. When the critter creeps out of Jenny’s ear canal, Brawny castaway and former NBA star Scot Pollard pulls it off Jenny’s ear and squeezes it to death between his two giant fingers.

Jenny’s experience is reminiscent of the scene in the 1999 film Brokedown Palace starring Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale who are sent to a Thai prison for smuggling illegal substances. (It’s a long story.) In the filthy prison, Beckinsale’s character (Darlene) gets a cockroach stuck in her ear. It’s not pretty. Good news for Jenny: the moment the insect comes out, she feels like herself again, and that means motivated to win the next challenge. Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8pm on CBS.
