Mohamed Mohamed is a mechanical engineer from Emeryville, California who’s invented Linka, a smart bike lock. It’s smart for many reasons. If someone tinkers with your bike, Linka will send you an alert and release a 100 dB siren. And it’s smartly designed. Knowing that 85 percent of stolen bikes are ridden away, Linka locks the wheel to the frame so the culprit can’t ride away. If you get a Linka with the Noose Chain, you won’t even need keys to unlock it.
Mohamed is currently accepting pre-orders on his website. Each Linka costs $129 and is available in black or silver. (Noose Chain is an extra $40.) He expects to deliver orders in April or May 2016. Mohamed will appear on Shark Tank (February 26), which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
