Is it finally time to take Leicester seriously in the Premier League?
This is Leicester City! Last season — their first in the Premier League in 10 years — they were 7 points adrift from relegation safety and written off with 8 games to play. So Leicester went on an improbable run, winning 6 of their last 8 games. That was a miraculous save, but this is Leicester — surely their second season in the top tier will bring them back to reality and relegation, right? So Leicester started the season brightly and have kept on going. They led the Premier League table on February 1st. How about this fact: the leader at the start of February has won that last 11 EPL trophies. But this is Leicester!
A team that cost a tenth as much to assemble as their rivals at the top of the table. Surely back-to-back visits to those rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal would return sanity to the top of the table. So Leicester dismantled Manchester City 3-1, a statement loud enough for the odds makers to take note and make Leicester co-favorites to win the league with Arsenal, who they visit this Sunday February 14th at 7am ET on NBC Sports.
