Two women from Minneapolis and Waco, Texas, Melissa Elms and Katie Sanchez, have come up with a sweetener that tastes like honey but is not made by bees. Bee Free Honee is a liquid sweetener made from organic apples in Michigan. Why avoid honey made from bees? The ladies will tell you all about the kind of trouble honey bees face (here). Bee Free Honee will pitch the company on Shark Tank and perk up the ears of investor Daymond John who recently befriended the founder of Bee Thinking, maker of cedar bee hives, and started beekeeping himself.

The Original Apple Honee 2-Pack is sold for $10.80 on the website. (That’s two 12 fl. oz. bottles.) There are currently four flavors available – original apple, mint, slippery elm, and ancho chili. Bee Free suggests you use it on anything you would use honey or syrup or sugar on – pancakes, waffles, yogurt, and oatmeal. Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
