In the 2 Broke Girls episode “And the Sax Problem” diner cashier Earl (Garrett Morris) is crushed when he learns from his ex Ruby that he wasn’t invited to play with his old jazz band The Early Birds at their reunion show. That doesn’t keep Earl or the rest of the gang from the diner from going to the show. Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs) do their best to get Earl back on stage.

Ruby is portrayed by Jackée Harry. She’s best known for her roles on Everybody Hates Chris (Vanessa), Sister Sister (Lisa Landry), and 227 (Sandra Clark). Fun fact about Harry: She landed her first acting job on the daytime soap opera Another World as Lily Mason in 1983, when Morgan Freeman was on the soap playing Dr. Roy Bingham. Harry’s next big project is the animated film Captain Underpants (she voices Mrs. DePoint). 2 Broke Girls airs Wednesdays at 8pm on CBS.
