Being called a rat on Mob Wives is the lowest of insults. And that’s exactly what Karen Gravano’s father, “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, is. He cooperated with the Feds against mob boss John Gotti who was sent to prison for life (Gotti died in jail from cancer in 2002). Karen gets a lot of grief from the ladies about her father being rat but she continues to defend him. Keep in mind the Gravanos are close-knit: In 2000, the Gravano family got busted selling Ecstasy together in Arizona. Karen and her mother got probation; her brother got 9 years, ex-con Sammy got 19 years.

With the new law for non-violent drug offenders enacted (to reduce prison overcrowding), Karen and the family have filed a motion to get Sammy home earlier than his release date, March 8, 2019. Not everyone is happy about the law or the Gravano’s motion — particularly dissatisfied is John Gotti’s daughter Victoria Gotti. The Gotti family can rest easier now that a US judge rebuked Gravano’s bid for sentence reduction. Sammy the Bull Gravano is now 70 years old. Mob Wives airs Wednesdays at 8pm on VH1.
