Comedian and movie star Kevin Hart embraces his height (he’s reportedly 5’4″, some say 5’2″). Hart uses his relatively small physical stature in his comedy to great effect. So when he starts stomping the sidelines as head coach of the American team in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on February 12, he’ll be looking with particular admiration at one of the players he’ll have the privilege of coaching. That will be NBA legend Muggsy Bogues, who played fifteen seasons in the NBA — land of giants — at 5’3″tall. Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues averaged 7.6 assists and 7.7 points per contest over his long NBA career. He also averaged double figures in “holy crap did you see what Muggsy just did?” moments per game.
If Kevin Hart had to fight to overcome his size to succeed, then just imagine Muggsy Bogues’ unlikely journey to the NBA. In Toronto, Kevin Hart will coach celebs like Nick Cannon, Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and fellow comedian Jason Sudeikis in the game. But he’ll see eye-to-eye with Muggsy, and there should be a simpatico gleam there.
