Marcus Lemonis of The Profit visits The Blues Jean Bar. At its peak, the denim chain boutique had 13 stores across the county. Now, only three remain — Dallas, Chicago, and the flagship store in San Francisco. The company’s overly aggressive expansion was led by poor management and now there’s a boatload of inventory that Lemonis “doesn’t know if I want my name on this stuff.” In order to save the company from totally unraveling, Lemonis will have to intentionally change things to the extreme.
Blues Jean Bar has taken a strange approach to building its online brand. While it maintains social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram), it does not maintain a website. The website links from their social media accounts drive traffic to a non-functioning website. P.S. Lemonis is encouraging watchers to recycle their denim for a good cause. The Profit airs Tuesdays at 10pm on CNBC.
