On the new show The Player, Alex Kane is described as “Las Vegas’ biggest pain-in-the-ass security consultant.” But when someone breaks into the former intelligence officer’s home and kills his wife, it gets personal. He seeks revenge with the help of Mr. Johnson (Wesley Snipes) and his tech guru Casandra King (Charity Wakefield). Chases, explosions, brutal hand-to-hand combat – it’s all in there and Vegas is the backdrop.
Alex Kane is portrayed by Philip Winchester. With a name like that and his James Bond moves and looks (think Daniel Craig), you expect him to be British. But he’s not! The 34-year-old was born in Montana. He was discovered there when the producers of the 1998 Steven Seagal film The Patriot were casting locally. Winchester, at 14, landed a role as a young militiaman. As an adult, Kane is best known for his roles in Cinemax’s Strike Back (Sgt. Michael Stonebridge), 24: Live Another Day (Colonel Shaw), and Camelot with Joseph Fiennes. The Player airs Thursdays at 10pm on NBC, after The Blacklist.
