Marine Corps Major Rob Dyer is the founder of RuckPack, a caffeine-free performance nutrition energy drink. Dyer pitched the product on Shark Tank in 2012. The Sharks were impressed with Dyer, an Annapolis grad who served two tours in Iraq and earned his MBA. Dyer secured a deal with Robert Herjavec and Kevin O’Leary and were able to get RuckPack into Walgreens. Two years later, RuckPack announced that Dyer was stepping down as the company’s CEO and passing responsibilities to Derek Herrera, a veteran Marine Special Operations Officer and paraplegic who was injured in Afghanistan. During Herrera’s rehabilitation, he attended business school at UCLA and got involved with RuckPack.
