Okay, this emoji thing is just getting ridiculous. On Monday we learned about Flirtmoji‘s highly unsubtle cutesy icons for sexting. Now guests at the Aloft Hotel in New York can order room service by texting emojis to the Front Desk. The new service – Text it, Get it (TiGi) – aims to simplify hotel service, because apparently we’re now too lazy or inept to use our tongue and jaw muscles to communicate that we need a toothbrush sent up to our room. Instead, guests are offered an array of “packages”which they can order by sending an emoji combination — everything from The Re:Fresh (toothbrush, toothpaste, and other toiletries) to The Munchies (pop and snacks) to The Hangover (bottles of water, Advil, and a banana).
There’s even a package called Surprise Me, although we hope that the Aloft Hotel staff don’t interpret that to mean they should start sending flirtmojis to guests … it could get a little awkward. I mean, as it is, The Hangover features a pill between a drop of water and a banana … that could be … misinterpreted.
