Honda just revealed its official, tenth-generation Honda Civic in Los Angeles. According to John Mendel, Executive Vice President of American Honda Motor Co, Inc., says it’s “the most ambitious remake of Civic we’ve ever done.” He added, “We are bringing more new technology and innovative thinking to Civic than ever before to establish a new benchmark for fun-to-drive performance, fuel efficiency, safety performance and refinement in the compact class.”
The 2016 Honda Civic has a new body designed specifically for its new sporty engines. Two new engines will be available: a 2.0-liter VTEC inline-four and a 1.5-liter turbocharged, direct injection VTEC inline-four. It comes with a fastback-style tail, too. The 2016 Honda Civic is 25mm lower (less than an inch) and is almost 51mm wider (2 inches) than the last Civic. According to AutoIndustriya, “Despite its larger size, the 2016 Civic is 30 kg lighter as 12% of the body was constructed from ultra high-strength steel. Aside from being more lightweight, the use of the said steel allowed for a 25% improvement on torsional rigidity as well.”
