Standup comedian Tommy Davidson is best known for his outstanding work on the TV show In Living Color. But getting there wasn’t easy. He was born in 1963 in Greenville, Mississippi where he was abandoned in the trash at 18 months old — until his adoptive mother rescued him. She and her husband, who are white, raised Tommy in the DC suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland. Although it was a volatile time — his family moved to the area the week Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot – he said of his upbringing: “The love that I got didn’t have any color.”
When not on tour, Tommy is in the studio providing the voice of Cream Corn in the animated action comedy-spoof Black Dynamite. Or he’s at home. He married his longtime girlfriend Amanda Moore in June. They live in Sherman Oaks with her 5-year-old son and Tommy’s 21-year-old daughter. Together they will appear on Celebrity Wife Swap on August 19 (10pm, ABC). Tommy will graciously welcome one of Corey Feldman‘s (Stand By Me, Lost Boys) girlfriends into his home.
