Kevin Durant is no Russell Westbrook when it comes to far-out fashion, but KD rocks a pretty cool style and usually looks about as smooth as his automatic jumper. Durant and his agent Jay Z taunted Nike with the idea of taking his talent and his MVP trophy to Under Armour last year, holding Nike’s feet to the fire and making the Swoosh pay crazy dollars to get Durant to break his foot in its shoes.
But that’s water under the bridge — just business — and Nike has moved on. But someone at Nike must have noticed that the new KD 8 Lifestyle has been out for just under a week and has 0 Likes on Facebook. At least as it’s listed at the Nike online store. (See screenshot below.) The KD 8 is a handsome, inarguably cool metallic silver gradient shoe for off-court pleasure (though taking cues from the Nike Dunk). There’s little doubt that lots of people love it; they’re just apparently not clicking to say so. Maybe the KD 8 Lifestyle just appeals to a crew too cool to click something as pedestrian as Like on Facebook. Jay Z got Durant a Nike deal allegedly worth upwards of $300 million deal. Jay Z himself ought to at least go online and click Like.
