Kristaps Porzingis heard the boos rain down when he was selected by Phil Jackson and the Knicks with their primary draft pick a couple weeks back. The 19-year-old Porzingis handled it with great class and then headed out to Las Vegas to prepare to win cheers.

He won over one famous admirer pretty quickly: former Lakers great and top fifty player James Worthy was announcing the Knicks v. Spurs summer league game when he called Porzingis a “freak of nature... a combination of Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant.” Those two players, btw, each have an MVP trophy at home. In his first game, Porzingis had 12 points in 18 minutes of action.
