The LG Watch Urbane Wearable Smart Watch wants you to pay attention, but it’s not needy. If you haven’t heard, there’s a bit of noise in the watch business. The noise isn’t driven by Rolex or Tag Heuer or Piaget either — or even by Rafa Nadal wearing a watch so expensive it stopped him from winning the French Open for only the second time in a decade. No, the noise is digital. And while the Apple Watch is responsible for most of the cacophony, Korean electronics wizard LG is quietly making its mark with its Android watches.
First of all, LG Watch Urbane is better looking than any Apple Watch. You can wear the LG Watch Urbane and look like a contemporary gentleman or a lady (it’s a top women’s choice), rather than a shill for Tim Cook’s idea of the future. (Especially if you stick with the stainless steel silver, and forego the gold — but you knew that.) It’s expensive, perhaps, at $350– $100 premium over the G Watch R from LG — and the technical upgrades aren’t mindblowing. But it’s an easy watch to use and to get used to — sort of like the urbane life style it takes its name from.
