The 51-year-old mixed martial artist Ken Shamrock is living in an RV about nine hours away from his family home in Reno, Nevada. It’s a new training tactic. Shamrock is getting ready to face heavyweight Kimbo Slice on June 19. Shamrock, who was once called The World’s Most Dangerous Man explained: “There was a point in time where I felt like I was living off my past, and my accomplishments, and what I’ve done.” He added, “It just felt like I was being empowered to be this person that I’m not anymore. And I felt like I needed to go back to the beginning again, and really start wanting and get hungry to want to be that guy again.”
Deadspin thinks Shamrock’s going to get killed. “No one will ever again pay to watch him take on anyone he can beat. He is getting paid to get fucked up. And when I ask him again why he’s fighting, he says he wants one last valedictory.” Neither Shamrock nor Slice has competed since 2010. The Bellator 138 main event will be televised on Spike TV, Friday June 19 at 9pm.
