There is a day for everything — and today is a day to get naked and in touch with the soil. Yup, it’s World Naked Gardening Day, which occurs — like the Kentucky Derby — on every first Saturday of May.
Advocates for World Naked Gardening Day have anticipated some of your questions. Why garden naked? “First of all, it’s fun! Second only to swimming, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude.” Young and old, singles and groups, fit and infirm, urban and rural — everybody can garden naked. Even “an elderly lady in a Manhattan apartment can plant new annuals in her window box,” they say. But that naked old lady should know that post time for the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby is 6:24 pm. And if you can watch the Kentucky Derby naked — especially if you’ve planted/picked the winner and your cheer hard down the stretch — it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget. World Naked Gardening On Kentucky Derby Day — the next big thing. Why not?
