Stockholm, Pennsylvania is a film about a young woman, Leia, who was kidnapped when she was 4 years old. She was kept in a basement for 18 years. When released and returned home, Leia struggles to adapt to her new/old life. Leia’s mother Marcy, portrayed by Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), also struggles with Leia’s return.
Leia is portrayed by Irish-American actress Saoirse Ronan. She’s best known for her Oscar nominated role in Atonement (Briony Tallis, aged 13), for her role as Susie Salmon in The Lovely Bones, and Agatha in The Grand Budapest Hotel. She will next appear in Nick Hornby’s new film, Brooklyn. Ronan plays Ellis Lacey, a young woman in 1950s Ireland and New York, who has to choose between two men and two countries. Stockholm, Pennsylvania will premiere on Lifetime on May 9 at 8pm.
