At last we get to meet Alex Dunphy’s (Ariel Winter) academic rival on Modern Family. When Alex finds out she has to share valedictorian honors with Sanjay Patel, both sets of parents get equally caught up in the rivalry. Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) even tries to bribe Principal Brown (guest star Andy Daly), who eventually lets the kids break the tie via a one-mile race. (Neither smart kid exactly excels at gym.)
Sanjay is portrayed by Suraj Partha. The young actor has made guest appearances on Glee and Nickelodeon’s How to Rock. (He’s a singer and musician, too!) Sanjay’s parents are portrayed by Ajay Mehta (Vish the father) and Anjali Bhimani (Nina, his mother). Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 8pm on ABC.
