Salesman Frank Scozzafava went on Shark Tank to pitch Mix Bikini (now Versakini). It’s a line of reversible and interchangeable bikini swimsuits. The top splits at the middle and with the pull of the string, each side can be worn on the left or right side. So you can wear one bikini top four different ways. Same goes for the bottoms. It’s a smart idea. The most interchangeable parts you buy, the more options you have. Investor Barbara Corcoran liked the product and Frank. “He can sell anything,” she said. She gave him $50k for 25 percent in the company.

After his appearance on Shark Tank, Frank threw a lavish party with free booze and bikini clad models diving into pools installed in a New York City nightclub. Barbara was there – she wore a pink dress and matching wig and sunglasses to celebrate the partnership. What she didn’t know was that they were using her $50k for the party. The next day, her investment was gone. Luckily, Mix Bikini designer Kelsey Duffy turned things around, which included a rebranding campaign.
