Nancy Pfister was born into a legendary Aspen, Colorado family. Her father Art Pfister made his fortune when he turned the family cattle ranch into the Buttermilk Ski Resort. Celebrities including Jack Nicholson, Cher and Michael Douglas came to vacation at the resort. Years later, in her late 50s, Nancy needed money so she rented out her house to a retired doctor, Trey Styler and his wife Nancy. After they paid Pfister $6000, Pfister turned on them. She evicted them and “refused to let the Stylers collect their belongings from the home.” Pfister was later found dead in her home. She had been beaten with a hammer.
A trash collector found a bag with items belonging to Nancy Pfister including the hammer with Pfister’s blood on it. DNA on one of the plastic bags matched Dr. Trey Styler’s. He confessed and pleaded guilty to first degree murder. Dateline Sunday Night Mystery will feature the murder of Nancy Pfister on May 10, 7pm on NBC.
