The OKC Thunder were so confident with their team that they let James Harden get away two years ago. Yup, James Harden was the third wheel in Oklahoma City–expendable, as the Thunder saw it. Now despite Russell Westbrook leading the NBA in scoring, triple-doubles and everything else, the Thunder narrowly missed the playoffs–a bitter pill after a couple of years when OKC was a true title contender.
What happened? Lots of things, but it’s hard to ignore that last year’s NBA MVP Kevin Durant hardly played. Westbrook and Serge Ibaka also missed significant games due to injuries. How do you fix that? Reports say the Thunder may fire coach Scott Brooks. Hey, what about the trainer? Maybe fire the trainer? Then again, this is the team that thought James Harden was expendable.
