On the controversial TV series The Slap, a hotheaded man slaps a misbehaving child (not his) at a family party. Everyone is stunned. And everyone reacts differently, that’s why every episode follows one character. On Thursday, March 5, viewers follow Manolis, the father of Harry. Harry (Zachary Quinto) is the one who slapped the kid (Dylan Schombing). Manolis believes he’s the only one who can set things right and he sets out to convince the mother of the child, Aisha, to forgive Harry.
Manolis, a Greek patriarch in The Slap, is portrayed by Scottish actor Brian Cox. Cox is known for his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company (he famously played King Lear). In the US Cox is best known for his roles in Hollywood films including The Bourne Supremacy (Ward Abbott), X2: X-Men United (William Stryker), Troy (Agamemnon), 25th Hour (Edward Norton’s father), Braveheart (Argyle Wallace), and Rushmore (Dr. Gugenheim), among others. The Slap airs Thursdays at 8pm on NBC.
