On The Walking Dead, Deanna Monroe is one of the survivors of the outbreak. She brings her pre-apocalyptic experience as a congresswoman to her new role as leader of the Alexandria Safe-Zone. Squeaky clean Aaron told Rick about the Safe Zone. When Rick and the rest of the survivors in Rick’s group arrive, Deanna warns Rick that she’s had to exile three men “who didn’t work out.” Rick decides to stay, and is swiftly given the job as Constable for Alexandria.
If Deanna looks familiar there’s good reason. Deanna is portrayed by actress Tovah Feldshuh. She’s best known for her recurring role as defense attorney Danielle Melnick on Law & Order. She got her big break in the 1970s when she landed the role of Martha McKee on the soap opera, Ryan’s Hope. Feldshuh can be seen in an upcoming TV mini-series Flesh and Bone created by Breaking Bad’s writer/producer Moira Walley-Beckett.
