TV star Tom Selleck (Blue Bloods, Magnum P.I.) will portray police chief Jesse Stone for the ninth time. The Jesse Stone TV movies were originally broadcast on CBS but it’s the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel that will air the ninth episode, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, in the fall. The last time Selleck played Stone was in May 2012, Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt. It was watched by 12.93 million viewers, the highest viewership of the night it aired.
Jesse Stone is the protagonist of the popular series of detective novels written by the late Robert B. Parker. Stone is a former minor league baseball player who gets injured, picks up drinking and gets dumped by his wife, Jennifer. Stone is hired because the corrupt president of the town board of selectmen thinks he will be easy to control. But Stone proves up to the task. One of the first things he does is arrest the guy who hired him.
