Six years ago, pop star diva Britney Spears was a hot mess. There were drugs, a shaven head, and a “svengali” by the name of Sam Lutfi who said he was her manager. Britney’s mother Lynne publicly accused Lutfi of secretly drugging Britney and manipulating her to cut off communications with her family (see her memoir Through the Storm). Lutfi sued for defamation but lost. However, he still believes his contract with Britney – to receive 15 percent of her monthly income, then $800,000 — was breached.
Lutfi’s contract claim will now head back to a California appeals court for a jury to decide whether Lutfi is owed commissions.
