When Mikaila Ulmer was 4 years old she was stung by a bee. She was frightened at first but then she became fascinated with bees and their role in the ecosystem. With a recipe handed down from her grandmother, the now 10-year-old Mikaila started selling lemonade with flaxseed (her grandmother’s secret ingredient). Then Mikaila added her own touch — honey made from local farmers and beekeepers. Now bottles of her Bee Sweet Lemonade are being sold in Whole Foods – mostly in Texas where she’s from.
Not only is the lemonade delicious and made of all natural ingredients but Mikaila is adorable and her parents/brand managers are no dummies. On every bottle of Bee Sweet Lemonade – now available in four flavors (Mint, Ginger, Iced Tea, Prickly Pear) – is a photo of the smiling young entrepreneur.
